2022 Global Health Ph.D. Fellowship Programme in UN University

The Global Health Ph.D. Cooperation presents a chance for its beneficiary to increase the value of their Ph.D. experience by empowering them to be important for the cycles of strategy examinations and interpretation inside the UN worldwide wellbeing setting.

UNU-IIGH’s 2019 – 2023 Strategic Plan centers around three support points: making an interpretation of proof into strategy, creating strategy significant investigation, and fortifying limit with respect to nearby decision-production on major questions connected with economical turn of events and worldwide general wellbeing.

The Fellowship plans to give active involvement with doing an examination project outside the domain of the scholarly community.

Benefits

Ph.D. Fellows are supported by a monthly subsistence allowance (USD 1,000 per month). For successful candidates from low- as well as middle-income countries, you may get a small grant. In addition, UNU-IIGH will assist in the visa application process for non-Malaysian residents.

A limited number of placements are available each year. One of the Fellowship’s expected outputs is a publishable report and/or policy brief, which may be included as an appendix to their thesis.

Eligibility requirements

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program at an officially accredited or recognized educational institution.
  • Also, applications from Ph.D. candidates at any stage of their Ph.D. are welcome. However, preference will be given to applicants who have submitted their thesis and are awaiting their degree.
  • Applicants’ projects enacted during the Ph.D. Fellowship must directly relate to one or more of UNU-IIGH’s focus areas.
  • In addition, applicants must have demonstrated proficiency in English.
  • Applicants must be willing to be based in UNU-IIGH in Malaysia for a minimum of 6 months to a maximum of 12 months.

Moreover, due to travel restrictions imposed by the Malaysian government in light of COVID-19, international Ph.D. Fellows may not be able to enter Malaysia. In which case, the Fellowship will be done remotely.
